Besara is the mustard paste in which fish is cooked and broiled after frying in mustard oil. Many people squeeze nose whenever you take the name of fish fry or fish curry
This is one recipe which i had daily as my postpregnancy food during the first month. There is a veg version of this curry, which i will post very soon
To quell the sibling rebellion over who would get the choicest bit of the fish, aka the head, my grandmother would fry the bit, crush it to bits and fry it up again
250 gm chuna macha ( very small fish)2 large tomatoes (sliced)2 teaspoon mustard seeds1 teaspoon cumin seeds 1tsp poppy seeds1” long ginger5-6 cloves of garlic 1 green chillymustard oil for frying the fish & to make the curry1 tsp haldi 1 tsp chili powder 1 Ambula (Dried mango pieces) 1tsp cumin & mustard seedssalt as per the tastechopped coriander leaves. Make a fine 250 gm chuna macha ( very small fish). 1 tsp haldi 1 tsp chili powder 1 Ambula (Dried mango pieces) 1tsp cumin & mustard seedssalt as per the tastechopped coriander leaves
I already posted the vegetarian version of this recipe on the blog. As all know that bengalis do not throw any part of a fish, so fish head goes into many veges like bottle gourd or cabbage and even in rice
Marinate the fish with turmeric powder and salt and keep aside. This curry is a true example of how the simplest and fewest of ingredients can actually bring out the best flavors in the world
But the past few days have been an overdose of Fish Fries and hence decided against it. As necessity is the mother of ALL inventions or discoveries and in this case recipes, decided to put to use the only vegetable available at home and 'create' something new
Although Bengalis andOriyas make it the way I have done here, most regions have their version of a similar mustard curry and I am sure it must be just as delectable

It is a spicy and delicious fish curry which is mainly tamarind based and taste so delicious. I ran out of that so i used normal tamarind but still it tasted delicious
