  • 125 g (4½ oz) plain or all-purpose flour
  • 240 ml (8 fl oz) buttermilk
  • 115 g (4 oz) butter
  • 50-100 g (2-4 oz) strong-flavoured cheese
  • 6 green onions (spring onions)
  • 2 eggs 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1½ tsp bicarbonate of soda.
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Extra grated cheese for topping (optional)
