Methi MasalaDal - a lentil based vegan curry with fenugreek. leaves, toor dal (split pigeon pea). tempering on the dal and serve immediately with rice and pickle and dry

Heat oil in a pressure cooker add onions, salt, sauté it and add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, turmeric, chilly powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, mix this and put the lid on and let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes in a slow flame (6 to 7 whistles), use this gravy in many veg and non veg curries
Add the mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Check for salt and cook covered until the drumsticks are well cooked and soft and the water is gone and is left with a nice masala
Once tempered, add the soaked rice and dal along with water. 1 cup yellow moong dal /husked and split green gram. Wash rice , moong dal and soak in four cups of water for 30 minutes. 1 cup yellow moong dal
Masala Urad Dal Wadi or badi as we call it is also known as wadiyan, vadiyal, vadiyalu. Wadi is summer essential in most of the North Indian house and prepared with different dals, spices with basic concept of grinding dal, spices and sun drying remains same over generations now
