  • 5 Star ones in Kerala.. It is authentically eaten with the Puttu or Steamed Rice Cylinders with layers of coconut in between... I just love this combo very much and is a frequent breakfast at my place being very healthy and filling one too... I am sure that it must be the same in every household of Kerala too..

  • 1 Cup Dry Black Chickpeas/Kala Chana
  • 1 Onion 2 Green Chillies
  • 1/2 inch Ginger Piece

  • To fry and make paste
  • 1/2 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Coconut
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 inch Ginger Piece
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 3 Cloves 2 Cardamom Pods
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds/Jeera
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp Red Chilli Powder/To Taste
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

  • For Seasoning
  • 1/2 Tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Onion 2 Sprigs of Curry Leaves
