  • Kakka-300 grams
  • Mustards-1/2tsp
  • Shallots Sliced-20
  • Green Chilli Chopped-2
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coconut Slices-1/4 Cups
  • Cloves Crushed-a handful
  • Ginger Crushed-an inch length
  • Turmeric-1tsp
  • Pepper Powder-1 1/2tbs
  • Coriander Powder-1tbs
  • Chilli Powder-3/4tsp
  • Freshly Ground Garam Masala-11/2 tsp
  • Coconut Oil-5tbs
  • Salt
  • For Marination
  • Lime Juice-1/2tsp
  • Turmeric-1/4th tsp
  • Salt
  • Pepper Powder-1/2tsp


    Marinate the calms with lime,turmeric,pepper and salt.

    Heat the oil splutter the mustards,now add the shallots,coconut,ginger,garlic,curry leaves,green chilli one by one.saute till the shallots loose its colour.

    Now add the powders one by one.roast them.add salt.then add the calms/kakka.mix well.cover it and cook.saute freguently.cook for 7-10 minutes.saute till the calms turns crispy.

    Add more pepper and garam masala for more flavour.

    The calms itself will produce some water.that's enough for binding the gravy.but if there is no water add a little water.Try to use fresh calms.
