  • 1/2 cup brown chickpea / chana
  • For the masala paste
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 heaped tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds, fried
  • 1/6 tsp fenugreek seeds / methi, fried
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, spluttered
  • Small gooseberry sized tamarind
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
