Today I am going to share something from my home land, also called as “God's Own Country”. In Kerala, for a seafood lover, a meal is never complete without rice and a fishcurry
Well, my mother is fromKottayam and kottayamfishcurry, especially made my Christians in the region, is the most renowned fishcurry in Kerala, prepared a day ahead and left in the same clay pot overnight
I already added Puzha Meen Curry/Fresh Water FishCurry which was my mom's recipe. You can clean the fish pieces by rubbing it on a stone surface to remove the outer silver color
Take a break fromfish curries and chicken or Beef curries. This curry is also very easy to make and goes well with another spicy dishes like fish fry ,chicken fry or any spicy vegetarian dishes too
This one is very easy to prepare, do not be taken aback with the number of steps, it's just a pinch of this & a handful of that from your masala dabbas/pantry & voila, you are left with a very flavorful & aromatic side dish that will definitely elevate your mild flavored rice or simple phulkas & leave you contented
This curry is also known as Red FishCurry or Meen Mulakittathu or KottayamFishCurry. Remove from heat and keep covered for at least one hour for the flavors to blend in
You can make different versions of Mappas by substituting chicken with egg, mutton, beef, fish, duck or with vegetables like Broccoli, cauliflower, ladies finger, bread fruit etc…
Kadala curry especially Karutha kadala curry that is, black/brown chickpeas curry is one of the most popular vegetarian curryfromKerala that is a side dish served with another popular dish fromKerala,Puttu or Appam exclusively and so this black chickpeas curry is one of the traditional and must have breakfast curry of Kerala
A lot of these plantations are centered around Thekkady, a few hours drive from Kochi. Chef Anish gave us a cooking lesson in the plantation kitchens, showing us how to make Kerala's famous fishcurry
