Moongdalkhichdi is very popular as a comfort food. Wash and soak the moongdal and rice together. dal and rice cooked together with peppercorns and flavoured with ghee, it is a light and healthy meal despite the rich texture that the ghee and dal impart to it
serve khichdi hot with papad, chutney, achar or curd. 1½ cup moongdal. 11 inch piece cinnamon stick (dalchini / taj). 1curdfirstly, soak rice and dal for around 20 minutes. 1then add soaked rice and dal to the pressure cooker. 1now add the prepared khichdi into the pan. 1mix well and mash khichdi lightly

I learned this recipe from my grandma, because when ever she cook chapati (which is long time back because now she is so weak to roll that things out), she makes this dal
