Ingredients

  • 2. The original recipe in the cookbook uses chickpeas and I substituted them with black eyed peas. Any type of beans
  • 2 tbsp black tea leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil (mustard or canola)
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 2 green chillies, stems removed and thinly sliced
  • 3 cups cooked black eyed peas (See Notes above) or use canned black eyed peas
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • salt - to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric (haldi)
  • juice of 1 medium-sized lemon
