The markets will be flooded with young pointedgourds/parwal/potol. A curry with potatoesandpointedgourd is most common at our place, we call it ALOO POTOLER DALNA

One is the complete vegetarian version where fried pointedgourds are stuffed with smashed potato or paneer (cottage cheese) and the the in other variety fried pointedgourds are stuffed with fish ,prawns or even chicken
PointedGourd/Parwal is called 'Potol' in Bengali and 'Dolma/Dorma' means a stuffed vegetable. But in this vegetarian and low calorie version of the Potoler Dolma, the potol/parwal is stuffed with Indian Cottage Cheese and dry fruits
Parwal (aka Potol or PointedGourd) is a vegetable that results is a very crispy, crunchy stir-fry that I love very much as a side-dish to Curd Rice, Sambar Rice or Bisi Bele Bhath
When the potatoes have softened, add the stuffed parwalsand bring to a boil. Once the cumin seeds begin to crackle, add the chopped potatoesand stir fry till slightly done
