Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped bitter gourd (pavakkai / karela)
  • lemon sized tamarind ball - soaked in 1 cup water for 30 mins 1 medium sized onion - finely chopped
  • 1 medium sized tomato - finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tsp Sambar powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Podi / Verkadalai Podi
  • 1 tbsp onion vadagam - optional
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 4 or 5 tbsp gingelly oil / sesame seeds oil
