Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow or orange toor dal
  • 10-12 small sambar onions

  • 1 cup of red onions, diced
  • 1 cup tomatoes diced
  • 1 cup vegetables, cut (carrots, beans, squash, drumsticks, zucchini)
  • 2 tsp sambar powder, more if you like it spicier.2 Tbsp fresh or dry coconut, grated
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp thick tamarind paste
  • 2 tsp finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dry coconut, for garnish
  • 1 tsp of ghee
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 4 to 6 sambar onions
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp of crushed garlic
  • 3 whole dry red chilies
  • 5 minutes Drain the lentils and add them into the pan
