Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Lima Beans / Butter Beans / Double Beans / Sem - soaked overnight
  • 1/2 cup Soya Beans - soaked overnight
  • 2 medium sized potatoes - diced into cubes
  • 2 medium sized onion - finely chopped
  • 1 tomato (optional)
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp coriander powder
  • asofoetida - a pinch
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 5-8 curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tbsp khus-khus (poppy seeds)
  • 4 dry red chilies
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp saunf (fennel seeds)
  • 10 pearl onions (sambar vengayam)
  • 1/4 cup chopped coconut
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
