Author: Hebbar's Kitchen Recipe type: chutney Cuisine: south indian Serves: 3 servings Ingredients 2 medium onions 2 tomatoes(adjust to suit your taste) ¼ cup of fresh or desiccated coconut 1 tbsp red chilli powder / 2 red chilli 1 tbsp urad dal / uddina bele ½ to ¾ inch ginger salt as needed tamarind paste or lemon juice as needed pinch of turmeric or as needed 1 tsp oil tadka or temper 1 tsp.oil ¼ tsp urad dal 1 sprig curry leaves ¼ tsp mustard pinch of hing 1 broken red chili Instructions heat 2 teaspoons oil in a frying pan and fry urad dal and add hing. add the chopped onions and fry for 2 - 3 minutes add finely chopped ginger and continue to fry for a minute add the chopped tomatoes and continue to fry sprinkle salt, turmeric over the chopped tomatoes and fry until mushy. add fresh or desiccated coconut and continue to fry until forms a paste set aside to cool. transfer the fried tomato onion paste to a blender jar and add red chilly powder, tamarind and salt. blend to a smooth or coarse texture to suit your liking heat oil in a pan and temper with the tempering ingredients. 3.5.3208
