Made with basic spices and tomato, this is a pretty delicious and easy to make variety. Author: Fa's Kitchen Recipe type: Rasam Cuisine: South Indian Serves: 3-4 Ingredients 2 tomatoes, finely chopped 2 tsp cumin seeds / jeera 1 tsp methi seeds / fenugreek seeds 1 tsp black pepper corns / kali mirch 2 tsp oil ¼ tsp mustard seeds 1 sprig of curry leaves / kadi patta 3 - 4 cloves of garlic / lehsun, crushed 2 whole dry red chili / lal mirch 2 tbsp tamarind paste mixed with 3 cups water Instructions Lightly roast the cumin seeds, methi seeda and black pepper corns and grind them into a powder. Heat oil and add the mustard seeds. When he mustard seeds begin to splutter, add the curry leaves, garlic and whole dry red chili and fry for 30 secs Next throw in the tomatoes and cook till they are pulpy and done. Stir in the tamarind water and the ground spices and bring to a light boil on simmer. Serve hot with rice and Notes Remember you should never boil Rasam as it changes the flavour.
