tomato saaru | tomato rasam | udupi tomato rasam Author: Hebbar's Kitchen Recipe type: side dish Cuisine: south indian Serves: 4 Servings Ingredients half cup cooked tur dal 2 tomatoes lemon sized tamarind few curry leaves 2 green chilies ½ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp jaggery salt to taste 2 - 3 tbsps coconut oil 2 - 3 tbsps saaru pudi / rasam powder 1 spring coriander leaves pinch of hing Instructions add tamarind extract, salt, turmeric powder, green chilies, chopped tomatoes, jaggery and curry leaves in a large deep vessel. bring to a boil and allow to boil for 10 - 15 min or till the raw smell of tamarind disappears. add the cooked tur dal and get to a boil. now add rasam powder and continue to cook on medium high for another 2- 4 mins once the dal turns red add fresh coriander leaves and turn off flame. place lid and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving with warm rice. 3.5.3208
