Ingredients

  • 2 cup tightly packed Vallarai Keerai (Indian pennywort / Brahmi Leaves)- cleaned & washed
  • 3/4 cup Toor Dal (Split Pigeon Peas / Tuvaram Paruppu)
  • 1 medium sized onion - chopped
  • 1 medium sized tomato - chopped
  • 2 garlic flakes
  • 2-3 dry red chilies (or) 2 green chilies
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder - optional
  • asofoetida - a pinch
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1 tsp channa dal (bengal gram / kadala paruppu)
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 2 cup water
